President Bush vetoed a health insurence program that would have expanded the State Children's Health Insurance Program by nearly $35 billion over five years. President Bush stated that he veoted the bill for the second time because it was identical as the first bill that was proposed on October 3. Instead of increasing Children's Health Insurence by $35 billion President bush proposed adding $5 billion to the program and felt that if he would have accepted the bill many families would have left private insurence to use the federal funded insurence. Many against President Bush rejecting the bill felt that the bill would have helped poor children around the country. I feel that health insurence for children is one of the most important things our country need because hospital and medical bills are very expensive. But the federal health insurence should be for children that really need it, for those whose parents do not make enough income.
I have a friend that is getting married soon and today we went to pick her dress. The dresses were so pretty and when the lady brought out her dress it was extremely beautiful. Looking around made me realize how I want to be in the future. I just want my wedding day to be perfect but that won't happen any time soon. I need to acomplish so many things before I can settle down.

The changes will take place nation wide in 2008 and I think it is a great idea because there are people that do not want contracts and now can have good service with Verizon. Many have said that Verizon is only doing this because it wants to protect its interest from competitors. Even if that is one of the reason I think the consumer will benefit from this service. The consumer will have different choices not be committed to a contract.

Winter is finally here and today I decided to take a trip to New York City. It was extremely cold but I had alot of fun looking around and shopping. NYC is such a great place to visit and even thouhg it was extremly cold it was fun watching how people manage in NYC. There is a lot of movement and people always look in a rush to get to their destination. There are many cultures that influence NYC and it was fun spending a day just walking around even though at the end it got extremly cold.
In an article written by Scott Welton, Welton writes about the Great American Smokeout. The great American Smokeout promotes people to stop smoking and helps people finds other who are trying to stop smoking as well. There are different activities held at this event and are organized by the American Cancer Society in Sikeston. One of the events is informing young kids about smoking all different types of tobacoo can be real harzardous to your health. In my opinion I think that informing kids at a young age about the affects of tobacco will prevent many from smoking when they are older. Knowing what tobacco causes will decrease the number of deaths due to tobacco. Although there are many factors that might lead a person to start smoking knowing what might happen due to smoking might stop some kids from smoking at a young age.
Today was such a cold afternoon that I did not feel like getting out of bed. I went to class and then back to my room but i could fall asleep again. So i just go up and washed my clothes instead but the day seems to pass by so slow. No its completly dark outside and that makes me lazier. But my sister is coming to pick me up and we might go out. For once I'm not so excited to go out this late but i'll make the best out of it. I also have so much to do for next week that it gives a heacace already.
In the article, Extra Weight May Have Health Benefits by Jessica Berman, Berman states that being a few pounds over weight might be beneficial because according to the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta found out that Americans that are overweight are less likely to die of heart disease and cancer. The number in deaths relating to cancers such as colon cancer, breast cancer, and pancreatic cancer has decreased in people who are over weight by a few pounds. But people that are overweight have higher chances of dying from diabetes and kidney disease. It is insane how obesity has increased over the years in the US and I think is due to all the fast food restaurants that are around. A family I know rather spend money on buying food then cooking at home. Although they are not over weight their son is and instead of helping him in his growth they are making it harder for him.
This weekend I decided to come back home early and it was a great idea until I my friend gave me a ride. For once I thought I could be home early and I was completly wrong. We left Kean at 1:20pm and i did not get home unil 4:30pm becuase my friend dcided she needed to get some things done efore taking me home. I did not want to complain because she was giving me a ride. I was gettin gupset and so was she and when she finally decided to take me home we hit traffic. We were stuck in traffic for almost an hour. Although i did not mind spending time with her I did not want to spend all my friday with her shopping. When I finally got home i was glad and finally got to rest from waling all day.
In Fox Sports the article Hingis' on-court career not worth salvaging, caught my attention because over the years there has been an increase of either drugs, alcohol, or steriods. Martina Hingis tested positive for using cocanie and denies not taking drugs but decided that she will end her tennis career. Although Hingis denies that she did not do drugs many feel that that is one of the reasons that she is quiting. I hope she can clear her name if the testing is not true because there are kids who look up to Hingis and it affect the way they percive her. Hingis stated, "I have no desire to spend the next several years of my life reduced to fighting against the doping officials," and I feel that is not the way she should speak especially since she denies not taking any drugs. Hopefully she can clear her name and retire with a clean record.
